To conclude May we take a couple of minutes to meditate on Lamentations 3:22-26. This is one of my favourite passages of Scripture so I hope you enjoy this little couplet and prayer. L x

Armour Up! The Helmet of Salvation.
For the month of May, we're at the penultimate item on the Apostle Paul's list for the full armour of God. I pray my poem and meditation on the Helmet of Salvation can be a great reminder for us to guard our thoughts. God bless you, love Lucy x

Here, There, Or In The Air!
I wrote these verses because I received a unique request to create a retirement poem for a dear brother in Christ, Pastor Howard Davies.
Howard led my father-in-law, Alwyn Wall, to the Lord, along with his best friend Malcolm Wild, way back in the 60s. They went on to create the musical duo "Malcolm and Alwyn", and together they revolutionised Christian music through the 70s and 80s. They both became senior pastors and still serve God's people in those roles today, all thanks to the faithfulness of Howard's powerful witness.
Howard has served as an assistant pastor for Malcolm for the last 28 years, and so the news of his retirement from his post at Calvary Chapel, Merritt Island, Florida, was met with great sadness but also well-wishes for this new season in his life. Malcolm asked me if I could write and record a poem of thanks and gratitude for Howard's leaving ceremony, and it was a great privilege to be able to be a part of his special day.
Howard's life and ministry have been and continue to be a great inspiration to so many people. From his joy in the Lord to his prayers and knowledge of Scripture, Howard has been a wonderful mentor and great example of what walking in the faith looks like.
One of Howard's personal phrases which I've adopted into my own farewells to my brethren is, "You never say goodbye to another Christian! You simply say, 'I'll see you here, there, or in the air!'" I decided this would make a really great title, and so I pray you enjoy this special poem for a special man.

Big Fat Ginger Cat
As you may have gathered from my poem last month called “A Shakespearean Infatuation”, I’m quite a dog-lover! For the most part, I have to admire them from afar due to allergies, but thanks to the introduction of the poodle mix dogs, I can, on occasion, enjoy the company of a canine friend without consequence!
I’m afraid to say, however, I don’t hold the same fond feelings for their feline counterparts. (Sincerest apologies to the cat-lovers of this world!) I know there are some beautiful and affectionate moggies out there, but sadly, I’ve had too many encounters with the sneaky, unpredictably scratchy types who look like they belong on the lap of a Bond villain to feel at ease around cats.
As a result, if ever I find myself on the receiving end of some feline attention, I’m not slow in politely moving on! It was one such event that inspired my poem, “Big Fat Ginger Cat.” Not surprisingly, this is the very same gent who I mentioned in “A Shakespearean Infatuation.” I felt such a formidable presence was definitely worthy of his own poem as he definitley gives main character energy!

Armour Up! The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace.
The third part in my "Armour Up!" series focuses on the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace. When I think about armour, I can't say shoes are one of the first things that spring to my mind, yet here we have the Apostle Paul listing this item among the vital pieces of a soldier's armour.
I pray my poem and short exposition can give us some insight and inspiration today on why the full armour of God is so important for the Christian.
God bless you and much love, Lucy x

A Shakespearean Infatuation
As part of my "Other Poems" series this year, I thought we could enjoy a fun little poem about one of my favourite pooches, Romeo. I felt this particular poem might be fitting for this week in the approach to Valentine's Day, as the name Romeo is of course linked to one of the most renowned love stories of all time!
My Romeo may be a little fluffy dog in Florida, but I imagine many of us can relate to the joy that comes with the unconditional love of a fur baby! I find they're such a gift from our wonderful Creator and can bring so much happiness into a dreary day. Whether you're an animal lover or not, I pray this poem can bring you a smile and inspire us to give thanks for the furry friends in our lives! L x

Armour Up! The Breastplate of Righteousness.
The second offering in my series called "Armour Up!" takes a look at the breastplate of righteousness. Some good questions to ask ourselves today might be: When it comes to standing before God, do I think of myself as worthy because of the way I live my life or because of Christ’s death on the Cross for me? Do I ever find myself feeling proud of the things I’ve achieved? Am I prone to feeling held back by guilt and shame from my past?
May this poem, insight and meditation be edifying for us today. Love Lucy x

Turn Worry Into Worship! (Psalm 139)
My third series for 2026 is called "Turn Worry Into Worship!" This series is intended to bring really short meditations consisting of a poetry couplet, a Scripture and a brief prayer.
Worry is such a paralysing thing that simply robs today of its joy, so I pray these little one to two-minute meditations at the end of each month can offer a quick shift of focus and help bring a change of heart for us this year. May worry have no place in our lives as we entrust all into the hands of our mighty Saviour and rest in His sovereignty. Let's take the energy we'd spend on worry and instead, use it to praise the Lord! God bless you, love Lucy x

Armour Up! The Belt of Truth.
My first new series for 2026 will run from January to June and is called "Armour Up!" It'll probably come as no surprise that I'm taking my inspiration for this series from Ephesians 6:10-18. This portion of Scripture was written by the Apostle Paul as he encourages us to "put on" the full armour of God so that we might be able to take a stand against the evil schemes of the devil.
Anyone who has been a Christian for any length of time will know that we are in a battle, and this is not just any battle. This warfare is spiritual, so we’re going to need way more than our feeble earthly strength to fight in this war. In the face of all of this, Paul instructs us to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power because greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world!
Through this series I'm going to focus on each item listed by Paul when it comes to our spiritual armour and take a closer look at what this means for us as warriors of Christ. I pray these poems and teachings can be insightful, edifying and encouraging as we journey into 2026 together! We can enter this year confidently knowing that Jesus has already won the victory and we fight on the winning side! Let's set aside distractions and be about our Father's business as we await our Saviour's return!
To begin this series and kick us off for the New Year, we start with...The Belt of Truth.
