But God Showed His Love While We Were Still Sinners

To show love to someone who doesn't love you back can be a very hard thing indeed, yet Jesus calls us to love our enemies in Matthew 5:43-45. This would seem like a ridiculous expectation if our Saviour hadn't already shown us that it's possible.

July's "But God" verses take a look at Romans 5:6-8 where we're shown the ultimate example of loving the unlovable. Praises to our wonderful Saviour who leads the way!

But God...Showed His Love While We Were Still Sinners

Romans 5:6-8
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

"Two words within the Bible that cut right through the strife.
Two simple words with power that can change a person’s life.
These words can speak to every heart, whatever path is trod.
We know in every circumstance, apply the words, “But God…”

Nobody would give their life to save a thankless wretch.
Maybe for a cherished one, perhaps our love could stretch.
But God has shown us clearly what no earthly love could do;
While we were still His enemies, Christ died for me and you."

1 John 3:1
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”

1 John 4:19
“We love Him because He first loved us.”

Point Of Praise

I praise You for Your incredible love, O’ Lord. A divine love. A love beyond measure or human comprehension. A love that held You to the Cross and made the way for me, a sinner to come into a personal relationship with You.
Eternity doesn’t seem sufficient to express my gratitude for Your unconditional love and grace towards me but I start with these words of heartfelt worship today. May Your name be glorified Jesus, now and forevermore.
