Before We Work, We Worship!

To kick us off for August, we delve into my "Spiritual Shorts" series with a little poem called "Before We Work, We Worship!"

Some questions for contemplation today might be: Do I take time to worship God before work or before starting a project? Do I see the importance of worshipping God first? What difference do I think worship makes? I pray this poem and short meditation can uplift our hearts today! Love Lucy x
Spiritual Shorts- Before We Work, We Worship!

Ezra 3:6
“From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, although the foundation of the temple of the Lord had not been laid.”

Before we work, we worship! Oh praise His holy name!
Invite Him into all we do, lest we toil in vain.
Let’s come into His presence, the God whom we adore.
Thank Him for the things He’ll do and all He’s done before!

Before we work, we worship! Oh sing about His grace!
We’ll find our heart and soul within a reverential place.
A place of peace and gratitude, with clarity of mind,
Dwelling on the goodness of the Saviour of mankind.

Before we work, we worship! Oh thank Him for His love!
Anything is possible with favour from above.
Commit all plans before Him, then see what He will do.
Oh magnify the Lord and give the honour He is due!

Psalm 127:1-2
“Unless the Lord builds the house,They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.”

Questions For Personal Reflection
Do I take time to worship God before work or before starting a project? Do I see the importance of worshipping God first? What difference do I think worship makes? Does it alter my perspective on problems or the attitude of my heart at all? Do I think it’s beneficial to be able to invite the power of Heaven into my life and the different tasks I face? How can I fit worship into my day today?

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, I worship You today! I praise You for the privilege of prayer and my ability to come into Your courts, knowing I am welcome there. Help me to remember to acknowledge You in all that I do, and to invite You into each area of my life. I ask that You would grant me strength for the tasks ahead, light my path and work through all my endeavours and projects. May my life point souls to Jesus, and my efforts always be for Your Kingdom and Your glory! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
