The Great Commission for the Christian, has and always will be, to lovingly deliver the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the hurting world around us. The Bible teaches us that our primary calling as followers of Christ is to declare the whole counsel of God to the lost. As the Apostle Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 2:23-26,
“And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.”
Those words are a beautifully clear outline of our responsibility as Christians but sadly, there are many churches in these current times who are forsaking the truth and preaching another Jesus whom the Bible does not preach. Many are teaching from the pulpit and sharing a different gospel which the Bible does not teach. Tragically, the words from Paul later on in 2 Timothy are heartbreakingly poignant for what we see going on today. In Chapter 4:3-4 he tells us,
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
Fables don’t save souls. Only God’s unchanging truth can save the sinner from an eternity without their Saviour, Jesus Christ. Sadly, despite what we are taught throughout the entirety of the Bible on the subject of sin and repentance, there are many in churches these days who seek to not only excuse sin but promote it. Preaching a false gospel is not a loving thing to do. Affirming anyone in a lifestyle that the Bible clearly tells us will lead to an eternity separated from God is one of the most un-loving things a Christian can do.
It’s for this reason that my poem is called, “Faithful To The Calling.” As Christians, we’re being pressured more and more to go against or twist Scripture and endorse people in their sinful lifestyle. The war truly rages for the lost souls of this world so may we, as believers, stay faithful to the calling given to us by our Saviour. By God’s grace, may we be unwavering in accurately and lovingly delivering the soul-saving truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Stay faithful to the calling, do not forsake The Way.“And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.”

We’ll all be brought before the Lord to give account one day.
We’ll answer for our actions and how we used each skill.
We’ll have to show if gifts were placed according to God’s will.
Stay faithful to the calling and seek to reach the lost.
Don’t nullify the Cross of Christ and disrespect the cost!
Don’t cancel the importance of our Saviour’s final breath.
Be faithful to the God who came and loved us all to death.
Stay faithful to the calling and witness of God’s Son
But if we can’t remain in truth then best to hold the tongue.
The day we twist the Scriptures while playing fast and loose,
That will be the day that we’re not fit for Kingdom use.
Stay faithful to the calling and serve our sovereign King,
Casting down the arguments of every evil thing!
Though many Churches fly the flags that rise against God’s Throne,
We bow before the Cross of Christ! To Christ and Christ alone.
Stay faithful to the calling and serve our Saviour well.
Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit “loving” sinners into Hell!
“But Scripture barely mentions sin! We all must change our view.”
How many times must Jesus speak before His words are true?
God’s Word is not made “valid” by mindless repetition.
Once is all it takes and we can’t change the definition.
We can’t ignore the words of Christ, the One whom Heaven sent.
He said to crucify the flesh and called us to repent!
Sin is sin and leads us to eternal condemnation.
Do not affirm the lost within their woeful separation!
Stay faithful to the calling, do not neglect God’s way.
Don’t listen to the devil’s lies of, “Did God really say?”
The Scriptures do not need review, adaption or amending.
That statement drips with arrogance. It’s rude and condescending.
Do not be overcome by pride or think that we’re “more clever.”
God speaks and it is absolute. His truth remains forever.
Stay faithful to the calling and stand for God this hour.
Do not forsake the Gospel for a message with no power!
One that seeks to tickle ears and make excuse for sin.
People died so we might have the chance to come to Him!
Our brethren have been martyred and slain by sword and stone!
Oh God forbid we falter now and shame our Saviour’s Throne!
Do not be tossed by wind and tide or “brand new revelation.”
God’s Word does not grow old and stands through every generation.
Counter dark devices with the double edgéd Sword.
Armour up and fight amidst the armies of the Lord!
We can’t be apathetic so strive for things divine.
These days are truly evil and we’re running out of time!
Take your stand and fight the fight, though many drop their Sword.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Let’s run the race and run it well, though others may be falling.
Oh may the Lord be magnified! Stay faithful to the calling.
2 Timothy 4:1-5
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry.”
Ephesians 4:14
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.”
2 Corinthians 11:3-4
“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!”
Ecclesiastes 1:9
“What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.”
Romans 13:14
“Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts.”
James 3:1
“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
