Christmas Contemplation

With Christmas 2022 fast approaching, I was dwelling on the words found in Isaiah 9:6 one afternoon. The verse reads,

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

I thought this description of Jesus made a wonderful meditation all on it’s own and was like a spiritual shower for the soul! Contemplating each title given to our Saviour in this verse really encouraged and comforted my heart. I felt it would make a lovely little meditative poem and soon found myself writing down my thoughts.
I pray these words can be a blessing to you whether it’s Christmas or any other time of the year!

Unto us a Child is born, behold a Son is given.
Oh what a blesséd Christmas contemplation.
Unto us a Child is born whose very name means “Saviour.”
Oh praises to our God above, the Lord of our salvation.

His name, declared as Wonderful and Everlasting Father.
May songs of worship rise and never cease.
Glory to our Mighty God, oh let each soul surrender.
Worthy is our Counsellor, our King and Prince of Peace.

Truly He is Wonderful, sent to us from Heaven.
Magnificent is Jesus Christ our Lord!
Love came down to save the souls of each and every sinner.
May all the saints and Heaven’s Host now sing in one accord!

Truly He is Counsellor, Author of all wisdom,
Confidante and Guide in times of strife.
Truly He is Mentor and a Teacher for His people,
Instructor and Advisor who will lead us through this life.

Truly He is Mighty God and Everlasting Father.
El Shadai who sent His Son to save!
The God whose love would cross the gulf to rescue all His children,
Whose power broke the chains of sin and raised Christ from the grave!

Truly He is Prince of Peace who reigns through tribulations!
Oh may we come before His Throne in prayer!
The God who grants our spirit rest through every trial and trouble
Will keep us in His perfect peace and safe within His care.

Unto us a Child is born, behold a Son is given.
Redemption has been bought for every Nation.
Jesus Christ, our Gift from God has brought us life eternal!
Oh praises to Emmanuel! Our Christmas contemplation.

Romans 5:7-9
“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

Psalm 147:5
“Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.”

Isaiah 40:28
“Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.”

Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.”
