To start off September, we have my poem called "Hold Your Peace" from my Spiritual Shorts series.
Inspired by Exodus 14:14, some helpful questions to ask ourselves today might be, "Am I feeling frustrated right now because of some personal injustice? Have I ever been wrongly accused or misunderstood, leaving me reeling with a whole host of negative emotions?"
If you can relate to either of these areas, I pray this poem can comfort and encourage you today. Much love, Lucy x
Spiritual Shorts- Hold Your Peace

Exodus 14:14
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

Hold your peace, My child. Hold your peace, I say.
I will fight for you and will defend your name this day.
Give Me your frustration and trust My sovereign will.
I will face this battle; you need only to be still.

I see all injustices, so leave them in My hand.
Focus now on Me, and wait for all that I have planned.
Let your soul return to rest; return without delay.
Vengeance isn’t yours to take, so leave Me to repay.

Hold your peace, My precious one; My love will see you through.
All that matters dear to you, it matters to Me too.
Don’t be overtaken, child; let your turmoil cease.
Believe Me, I will fight for you. My child, hold your peace.

1 Samuel 17:47
“The battle is the Lord’s.”

Psalm 37:6
“He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.”

Psalm 116:7
“Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.”

Questions For Personal Reflection
Am I feeling frustrated right now because of some personal injustice? Have I ever been wrongly accused or misunderstood, leaving me reeling with a whole host of negative emotions? Do these emotions ever make me feel like I want to retaliate or seek vengeance on the person or people who have wronged me? When I consider the words of Exodus 14:14, does it comfort or encourage me to know that God says He will fight for me, and I need only to hold my peace and be still?

Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, King of justice and God of all righteousness, I thank You Lord, that You know my heart. When people misunderstand me or set themselves against me, may I run to You, my precious Saviour, and cast all my cares before You. Gently remind me, Lord, not to try and face this battle alone or in my own strength. Help me come to Your throne, and find comfort as You help me process all the negative things that I am feeling.

Father, You understand all the details of each situation, and when others accuse me, help me rest in the knowledge that You know the truth. Please help me to have discernment in this situation, and give me the wisdom to know when to speak and when to keep silent. Help me also find a peace, deep within my soul as I place all things into Your capable hands. Encourage me, I ask, O Lord, as I hold my peace, trust in You, and see Your mighty hand work in this situation. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
