My third poem for my series, "Spiritual Shorts," is one I've chosen especially for the month when we celebrate Mother's Day. This poem is inspired by and entitled "A Mother's Love."
May these words be used to bless the many women of this world who have enriched our lives with their motherly love and care. Love Lucy x

Proverbs 3:3
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.””
A mother’s love is precious, a truly special thing.
It cannot be expressed enough the wonders it can bring.
This love is unconditional, a never-ending stream,
A strong and firm foundation for her children’s self-esteem.
A mother’s love is nurturing through all life’s highs and lows,
A haven where her offspring can express their deepest woes.
A place of sweet security, her love creates a bond,
Giving them stability for life and far beyond.
A mother’s love is powerful; it shapes and moulds each babe,
And she will be rewarded for the sacrifice she made.
Her love is truly beautiful, a treasure to behold,
And though her children surely grow, her love does not grow old.
A mother’s love is selfless; it can’t be pulled apart.
Investing in the lives of those who occupy her heart.
Her love is deeply cherished and leaves a legacy.
A love she carries through her life and all eternity.
Proverbs 31:28-29
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.””
Questions For Personal Reflection
Is there a woman or women in my life who have shown me this kind of gentle, motherly love? Have I thanked them for this gift? Have I thanked God for this gift? If I’ve lacked this tender, nurturing love in my upbringing, do I see how God’s gentle presence and love can fill this void? Have I asked Him to overrule and fulfil this area of my life? If I’m a mother or play a motherly role in someone’s life, do I see how influential and important my love is in their development? Am I an open and willing vessel for God’s unconditional love to flow through me to this child or children?
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for all the wonderful mothers and mother figures of this world. They truly are a gift from You, and we thank You for all the sacrifices they’ve made for the children in their lives. Please give them an extra portion of love, patience, encouragement, and strength today as they seek to raise up their children as best they can. May they in turn, find great joy and satisfaction in this incredibly important role. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
