So far in my series called, "When I Feel..." we've covered big emotions and tricky situations such as: When I feel overwhelmed, at odds with God's Word, lonely, angry, let down by others, let down by God, I let God down and filled with grief or broken-hearted.
To kick us off into the second half of the year, I thought I'd start on a cheery note and write a poem to acknowledge the happy and peaceful seasons we can enjoy in life! I pray my verses and meditation called, "When I Feel...Content" can be a blessing to you today.
Much love and praise God for the times of answered prayer and seasons of peace! Love Lucy x

When my life is going smoothly and the battles seem to cease,
When I’m in a fruitful season and my days are free from strife,
May I glorify the Lord and praise the One who gave me life!
Let me sing about His goodness and the kindness He has shown.
May I not forget my God or fail to come before His Throne!
God forbid I disregard Him as I go about my days.
Let me not neglect to offer joyful worship, filled with praise!
Let me never fail to show Him gratitude for answered prayer,
May my soul exalt His name for all His love and tender care.
May I seek to magnify the One who holds this heart of mine,
Coming to His sanctuary to be with Him and spend some time.
Let me give Him no petitions, may I offer no request,
Let me simply meditate upon the One who brings me rest.
Praising Him for many blessings, keeping me through times of strife.
May my joy be overflowing, blessing others in my life.
Let me use these circumstances as a chance to testify.
Witnessing of Jesus’ power, may His name be sanctified!
Let me offer up my worship for this happy time I’m in,
Never failing to remember, every gift is straight from Him."

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”
Proverbs 15:13
“A happy heart makes the face cheerful.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
“To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.”
Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord always;
again I will say, rejoice.”
Heart Check
What kind of season am I in just now? Am I in a peaceful season? Have I given God thanks for the peace He’s brought in to my life? Even if there are situations that are troublesome in my life right now, are there things I’ve prayed about in the past that I can see God has worked through and have since been resolved? If so, have I thanked God for answering these prayers?
Sometimes trials and tribulations bring us before God’s Throne in prayer much more frequently than when things are going smoothly in life. Difficult seasons remind us where our strength comes from and bring us to a much more acute awareness of our need for God. It might be good to ask ourselves today, do I come to God in prayer as often in the good times as I do in the bad?
What’s the nature of my prayers? Are they full of requests and petitions or do I ever come into the Courts of Heaven just to worship God? Do I long to be in His presence and praise Him for who He is or do I just bring Him my list of things I want Him to do for me?
If I am in a relatively peaceful season of life right now, am I sharing this joy with others? Is there someone I can come alongside to encourage and bolster through a difficult season in their life?
Whether we’re in a time of tribulation or a time of peace right now, may we thank God for the different seasons of life and His constant care and goodness towards us. As Scripture tells us in Proverbs 14:30, a heart at peace gives life to the body. May that life shine for Jesus’ glory today!
