But God Will Not Allow Us To Be Tempted Beyond What We Are Able

August's "But God" verses take a look at 1 Corinthians 10:13. Are you feeling tempted to go down an ungodly path? Sometimes when we're feeling tempted, we just need to "make like Joseph" and run! If temptation is knocking on your door today, look for the open window and get out of there!

By God's grace, may we choose to walk according to the Spirit and not the flesh. God will always provide a way for us to stay close to Him. L x

"Two words within the Bible that cut right through the strife.
Two simple words with power that can change a person’s life.
These words can speak to every heart, whatever path is trod.
We know in every circumstance, apply the words, “But God…”

Like all who came before us, we daily face temptation.
The enemy’s enticement makes a charming invitation.
But God is ever faithful and won’t lead us astray.
Look for the alternative, Christ always makes a way!"

Hebrews 4:14-16
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

James 4:7-8
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

Point Of Praise

I thank You Lord Jesus that You understand what it feels like to be tempted. You are a Great Hight Priest who came as Man and therefore knows the short-comings of the flesh, yet You were without sin. I praise You that in these times of temptation You are able to help me. You provide a way of escape because You know my frame, You remember that I am dust. Help me in those moments of weakness to call upon You and walk after the Spirit, not the flesh. I draw near to You now Lord and know that You draw near to me. I worship You and thank You for aiding me in my times of need.
