Easter Is...

I originally wrote this poem way back in 2009 to share with the little ones at my Church when I was serving in children’s ministry. It was coming up to Easter and I wanted to write a poem I could use that would emphasise the true meaning of Easter but in an understandable way for young minds.

I rediscovered the poem at the beginning of 2020 and so felt that I wanted to make it available in the hope that others may use it to bring Jesus into Easter time for their little ones too! I pray this cheery little poem can be a useful tool and shared many times over!
Easter is a special time, new life is everywhere!
Little lambs can run and play without concern or care.
Daffodils are all around and baby bunnies too,
As glimmers of the Spring sunshine at last come peaking through.

Easter is a happy time, it really is a treat
To find all wrapped in colour, chocolate eggs for us to eat!
Or maybe you could boil an egg and paint it for your Mum,
A bunny’s face with great big teeth! Now that would be such fun!

Yes Easter is a special time, just like I said before
But look beyond the chocolate eggs, it also means much more.
Easter time is when God proved His love for you and me,
He paid the price for every sin so we could be set free!

Yes Jesus gave up everything, but don't feel at a loss!
Just show Him that you love Him too by looking to the Cross
For this is where you’ll see that God’s your Saviour and your Friend
And now we all can celebrate for Jesus rose again!

Death could never hold Him, now He reigns upon His Throne!
With Jesus in your heart you know you’ll never be alone.
This Easter time, enjoy the chocolates and the bunnies too
But take a moment in your heart to say to God, “Thank You!”

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Philippians 2:8
“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”

Matthew 28:5-7
“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.””
