As the nights draw in, I thought it would be uplifting for our souls to start off the new month with a poem called "Encourage One Another". This little poem is from my "Spiritual Shorts" series, and I hope it can bless you today. Love Lucy x
Spiritual Shorts- Encourage One AnotherHebrews 3:13
“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,”
so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
Take every chance you have to encourage one another.
You do not know the difference it can make!
Champion their self-esteem by speaking words of kindness,
Then see the stream of joy and motivation in their wake!
Boost a person’s confidence and bolster them in spirit.
Set aside all negativity.
Help them to achieve their goals with genuine affection.
Speak into their heart and mind with positivity.
Oh do not underestimate the power of this blessing,
When there’s so much discouragement around.
A gesture of support can fuel the soul within another,
It may seem rather simple, yet the impact is profound.
It fosters a connection and a sense of true belonging,
Uplifting us in times of woe and stress.
When we lack in confidence, it often leads to failure,
But when we gain encouragement it leads us to success!
Remind them of how much they’re worth and show them their potential,
Whether they’re a sister or a brother.
Whether they be young or old, friend or perfect stranger;
Take every chance you have to encourage one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
Questions For Personal Reflection
In a world where discouragement is plentiful and frequent, would I say I’m an encouraging influence for those in my sphere? Have I personally felt the positive impact in my own life when I’ve received encouraging words from another? Have I ever experienced how damaging it can be when I feel discouraged? Do I feel I’ve ever achieved something or been capable of reaching a goal, thanks to the uplifting and affirming words of another? Is there someone in my life who could really benefit from a word of encouragement today?
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, I praise You for all the times I’ve received a word of comfort, hope, and encouragement in my life. A word in season that filled my heart with confidence and reassurance, reminding me that with You, all things are possible!
I ask that You would help me to be an encouraging influence in the lives of those around me too. Help me to be sensitive to when someone needs a word of encouragement and may my words be genuine, truthful, and life-giving.
Help me to “armour up” against the enemy’s weapon of discouragement, and quench that fiery dart with my shield of faith. Keep my focus on You, I pray, the Source of all hope and encouragement. You are the reason we can be encouraged through all seasons of life and so may my heart be steadfast and secure in this glorious, unchanging truth. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
