Fear Not!

During the early days of the lockdown in Britain caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, I happened to read a verse in Isaiah which really encouraged me. The Scripture I was led to was Isaiah 41:10 which reads,

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am Your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

As I sat meditating on the words in this verse, three things really stood out to me. I noticed that God affirms that He will strengthen me, help me and uphold me. I felt this was such a beautiful trio of promises and soon found myself writing my poem “Fear Not!”

In a world where so many people have to deal with the stresses of life with nothing but their own strength, no outside help from others while upholding everyone else around them, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for God’s promises in this verse.

As a child of God we go though hardships the same as anyone else but I feel it’s such a privilege to have Jesus strengthening, helping and upholding us in the difficult times of life. A provision readily available to all who will put their trust in Him. Truly, we have a wonderful Friend in Jesus!
Fear not for He is with us and do not be dismayed,
Our God, the mighty Warrior is here!
The Lord who goes before us will never leave our side,
Call upon His holy name and feel how He draws near.

What privilege is ours for we stand upon the Rock!
We know we never face these days alone.
Our King will not forsake us or leave us destitute,
Our Lord and our Redeemer reigns with wisdom from His Throne!

He’s promised He will strengthen us so do not fear the trial.
He’s promised to uphold us with His hand.
With man this is impossible but not for our Creator!
Every other power must bow down to His command!

Fear not for He will help us! Give glory to the Father!
We’re shielded and surrounded by His love.
A Fortress of security, our God cannot be shaken!
The Holy One of Israel protects us from above!

Yes Christ will be exalted, we’ll sing about His power!
Be bold and do not let your heart dismay.
Though some may trust in chariots, we trust in the Messiah!
Fear not for He is with us! Our Saviour leads the way!

Deuteronomy 31:8
“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Psalm 20:7-9
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
They have bowed down and fallen;
But we have risen and stand upright.
Save, Lord!
May the King answer us when we call.”

James 4:8
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

Psalm 21:13
“Be exalted, O Lord, in Your own strength!
We will sing and praise Your power.”

Psalm 33:18-22
“Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.”

Isaiah 43:2-3
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”
