Way Maker

My final offering from my 2025 series called "Spiritual Shorts" is my poem, "Way Maker". Is there a situation in your life right now that seems impossible and like there’s no way through? I pray this little meditation can be an encouragement to you today if so.
This December, let's keep our focus set on Jesus, our God of the impossible. Love Lucy x
Spiritual Shorts- Way Maker

Psalm 78:13
“He divided the sea and led them through.”

Exodus 13:21-22

“And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.”

Exodus 17:6
“Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.”

Teach me to trust You and not to despair, oh You who parted the sea.
Remind me there’s nothing too hard for You Lord. Oh Father, attend to my plea.
Teach me to follow the cloud by day and look to the fire by night.
Help me remember how much I am loved and Your children do not leave Your sight.

Yes, You will continue to do wondrous things though life gives many a knock,
You are the Saviour who knows no dead ends so bring forth Your streams from this rock.
Send now Your rivers through deserts so dry, open the doors Lord I pray!
Oh teach me to trust You and not to despair. I ask You Lord God, make a way.

Isaiah 43:19
“Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.”

Questions For Personal Reflection
Is there a situation in my life right now that seems impossible and like there’s no way through? Have I brought this situation before the Lord and invited His power into it? Have I seen God’s power work mightily in my “desert seasons” of life before? When I think of God’s faithfulness in the past, does this give me confidence to trust Him with my future? When I consider that God’s power parted the sea, brought water from a rock and raised Jesus from the dead, does my situation still seem too much of a challenge for Him? Do I believe God can make a way for me too?

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that are the Way Maker. You are the God who parted the sea, closed the mouths of the lions, stilled the storm, doused the flames, and conquered the grave! There is nothing that can challenge or vanquish Your power. There is no boundary on Earth that Your might can’t break through and bring to dust.

Lord Jesus, as I commit my life into Your hands again today, I ask that my prayers wouldn’t be limited by my own understanding or imagination. May I have the faith to ask the impossible of You, and trust the outcome will be according to Your perfect wisdom and plan. When doors seem firmly closed, I pray that they would be divinely opened, according to Your sovereign will and perfect plan for my life.

I ask that these circumstances would only cause my faith to grow stronger, and be an inspiring witness of Your goodness, faithfulness and power. Help me to be at peace in my heart today and give me confidence as I journey through each day with you, my wonderful, merciful Saviour. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
