My husband Jan and I were in Florida over the Christmas season of 2019 and we were staying with his Aunt Carol and Uncle Malcolm. Malcolm is the Senior Pastor at Calvary Chapel, Merritt Island and Carol speaks at many different Ladies’ Days and Pastor’s Wives Conferences throughout the year.
Carol mentioned to me one evening that she had a conference she was due to speak at in the Spring of the following year and wondered if I might write a poem that was in-keeping with their theme. She said her title was, “I Will Not Be Moved” and that the Scripture they’d be focusing on was Psalm 62.
I was in the middle of writing my poem “If Only You Knew” at this point so I decided to finish that one first but wrote down Carol’s title and Scripture reference to focus on afterwards.
A couple of days later I had just finished writing “If Only You Knew” and was cleaning my teeth before bed. As I stood there brushing away I asked the Lord to place the message in my heart if He had a poem for me in regards to Carol’s request. By the time I had finished cleaning my teeth I already had the first verse in my head and went on to write the rest of the poem that evening in one sitting. Talk about an answer to prayer!
The Lord has used the Psalms many times in my life to encourage me during difficult seasons so the words came prettily easily that night as I wrote. I pray that this poem can encourage not only the ladies at Carol’s conference but anyone reading or listening to this poem. I hope it can always act as a reminder that no matter what we’re going though in life, we serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords. As children of God, we need not be moved!

For You are my Father in whom I will trust,
No I will not be moved.
I bring my anxieties now to Your Throne
And ask that my worries would be overthrown.
I rest in the knowledge that I’m not alone,
No I will not be moved.
I will not be shaken O’ Lord, no I will not be shaken,
For You are my Fortress and Rock in this time,
No I will not be shaken.
From You comes salvation and You hear my cry,
For You’re my Defence, My Redeemer on High!
Lead me to Jesus who’s higher than I,
No I will not be shaken.
I will not be fearful O’ Lord, no I will not be fearful,
For mercy and power belong in Your hand,
No I will not be fearful.
You are my Refuge, my Strength and my Wings,
To Your name alone my spirit now sings,
I silently wait on the King of all kings!
No I will not be fearful.
I will not be daunted O’ Lord, no I will not be daunted.
For I am Your treasure in whom You delight,
No I will not be daunted.
You rooted and grounded my days from the start,
You’re God of my life and Lord of my heart,
I know from my side You will never depart.
No I will not be daunted.
I will not be moved O’ Lord, no I will not be moved,
For I am redeemed by the blood of Your Son,
No I will not be moved.
Though troubles now come and trials are rife,
One day You’ll return and end all the strife,
I praise You for I’m in the Lamb’s Book Of Life!
No I will not be moved!

Psalm 61:1-4
“Hear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.“
Psalm 25:4-5
“Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For Your are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.”
Romans 8:31
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
1 John 4:4
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
