What Can I Give?

The penultimate offering in my series called "Spiritual Shorts" is a little poem entitled, "What Can I Give?" May this mini meditation get our brains ticking for how we can seek to bless those God has placed in our path this week! Love Lucy x
Spiritual Shorts- What Can I Give?

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

What can I give to bless another? What can I give today?
Let me be open to what I should do and hear what Your Spirit would say.
Should I reach out and offer my friendship? Should I give of my wealth?
Perhaps I could give my time to another? What can I share of myself?

What can I give to bless another and readily offer for free?
Whatever I give, may it speak of Your love for You gave Your life to save me!
You gave me Your all and bought my salvation. You gave me the promise of life.
You’ve given me hope with a joy in my heart and help through the seasons of strife.

So what can I give to bless another? What can I give today?
Help me to serve with no expectation and no request to repay.
May I extend the bountiful blessings You’ve given me while I am living.
It’s possible, Lord, I could give without loving but cannot love without giving!

2 Corinthians 9:6-7
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Questions For Personal Reflection
Would I consider myself to be “a giving person?” Would others agree with my answer? Have I ever considered that giving is an act of worship to God? When I think about how much God has graciously given to me in my life, does this inspire me to bless others by giving? Has God been putting someone on my heart recently to bless with a gift of some sort?

Closing Prayer
Gracious, giving Father, thank You for the many bountiful blessings you have enriched my life with. Please fill my heart now with a desire to share the goodness You have so generously shared with me. Show me how I can bless another this week, I pray. Whether it be something such as a phone call to someone who I know is struggling with loneliness, or a financial gift, the gift of a home-cooked dinner, practical help, spiritual encouragement, whatever it may be, please open my eyes to the needs of those around me today.

Help me to serve Your people and those You place in my path, that my words and witness can both shine bright for the Gospel of Your Son. Even if my offering seems small and insignificant, help me to offer it willingly, knowing it could make a big impact in another person’s day. May I never do anything for my own glory or to seek my own praise, but let every word, deed, and action be an act of genuine worship from my heart, and for the furtherance and honour of Your Kingdom. May Jesus’ name be magnified! Amen.
