Let The Children Sing!

I was listening to a sermon from Pastor Chuck Smith one day while I was doing the housework. He lamented the fact that children in schools were no longer allowed to sing praises to Jesus at Christmas time but teachers had no issue with them singing praises to Santa Clause and Rudolph.

I found myself thinking, “What a shame. Let the children sing!” Within minutes I had put down my dusting cloth, picked up my laptop and written my little poem, “Let The Children Sing!” I hope these verses can help encourage adults not to stifle every child’s right to know and worship their Creator through the beautiful art of song!
Let the children sing to Jesus! Let the youngsters praise His name!
Let them lift their voices high and know the reason why He came!
Let them sing to their Messiah, silence not their joyful songs.
Let them glorify the Lord, the God to whom all praise belongs!

May they worship and adore Him as they learn about His love.
May their Christmas carols soar to bless the heart of God above!
Let their music rise in chorus, may they join as one to sing;
There can be no sweeter sound to reach the ears of Christ their King!

Melodies to give Him honour, hymns to bring the soul a lift.
May they glorify this Christmas, Jesus Christ, the greatest Gift!
Let the children sing to Jesus! Let them render praise to Him.
Grant them liberty and freedom! Let the little children sing!

Matthew 19:14
“But Jesus said,
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them;
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.””

Psalm 96:1-2
“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.”
