One attribute of God for us to dwell upon today is His Divine Glory. His very being emanates with radiant light which expresses His nature as Holy, Righteous, True and Just. There are several places in Scripture that speak about His divine glory and beauty, Isaiah 28:5 being one example where it reads,
“In that day the Lord of hosts will be
For a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty
To the remnant of His people.”
Our Creator is so beautiful that David’s highest desire was to gaze upon the very beauty of the Lord as we read in Psalm 27:4,
“One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.”
It seems fitting that as human beings, made in the image and likeness of God who is the very standard of beauty itself, we cannot seem to help being drawn to things which are lovely.
God has an inherent beauty of glory that cannot be shared with anything or anyone else but there is a beauty He bestows on His people. As children of God, we have the beauty of Christ’s perfect righteousness that will vindicate us as citizens of Heaven’s glory on the last day. What a truly beautiful, glorious God we serve!
